Hardest piece to clean, according to the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs Rara Avis, a 35-foot-tall sculpture of a cardinal, the Illinois state bird, comprised of more than 2,500 cast-metal airplanes suspended from steel cables. Hanging above the ticketing hall of Midway Airport, the piece is a dust magnet and requires maintenance crews to put in six to eight overnight-cleaning shifts per year to keep it clean.
