The Class Construction Project Job Scheduler
Borough of Manhattan Community College
I owned a construction and remodeling firm and did renovations. Working for yourself is tough—it’s either feast or famine. For a long time, I wanted to transition to a big company and work on one of those giant construction projects that you read about in the newspaper. I thought it would be more interesting, not to mention more stable. I saw an ad for the class and I thought it might be a great way to get my foot in the door—and maybe a way out of the remodeling business. I finished in January and looked for a job while I continued with my remodeling work. In May I landed a full-time job as a construction project job scheduler with a company in downtown Manhattan and said goodbye to my company. I help monitor the construction progress of several big projects. I love what I do and haven’t looked back. Now that I have weekends off, I don’t know what to do with my time!
