WINNER - Luxbar
The mini–filet mignon sliders are awesome, but our definition of burger requires a ground-meat patty. But it’s not much of a step down, believe us. $3 each for beef; $4 for filet mignon. 18 E Bellevue Pl, 312-642-3400
#2 - Tavish
This minikitchen serves four adorable, perfectly hand-formed patties on minibuns with melty American cheese and a pickle on top. $8 for four. 1335 W Wrightwood Ave, 773-529-8888
#3 - Broadway Cellars
We’ll forgive the sappy name of these “MmmmmMini Burgers,” but only because this trio is just different enough—topped, respectively, with cheddar, Swiss and Gorgonzola—to keep things interesting. $6.95 for three. 5900 N Broadway, 773-944-1208
#4 - Morton’s the Steakhouse
These succulent, itty-bitty patties have a seasoning salt cure and are seared under the steak broiler before being served on a toasted bun with raw or sautéed onions. $10 for four; Mon–Fri 4:30–6:30pm and 9:30–11pm. 65 E Wacker Pl, 312-201-0410
#5 - Poag Mahone’s
The Bruce Springsteen of minis, these patties are unfussy, basic, rugged, and substantial, with a nice smoky grill char and a thick, toasted bun. $8.50 for six. 333 S Wells St, 312-566-9100
I reccommend the mini-burger special at Beaumont's on Wednesdays...$3 for three big burgers with onions and cheese and good fries. Pretty good deal!
