WINNER - Kuma’s Corner
Long before the menu boasted burgers named after metal bands (“Black Sabbath” is blackened, “Motorhead” has inexplicable toppings of olives, oregano and tsatsiki), there was only one: the “Kuma Burger,” a half-pound Black Angus patty perfectly grilled to order and topped with bacon, cheddar and a dribbly over-easy egg. #2 - Grafton
This ground-sirloin beauty puts to rest any rumors that the Irish only have a way with shepherd’s pie and Guinness stew. We love the flavor the mixed-in herbs and spices give it, but expats love the curry sauce that comes with the chips (that’s fries, for you Yanks). $7.95. 4530 N Lincoln Ave, 773-271-9000

The basic burger here, a half-pound of Black Angus, is perfectly delicious. But if you really want to soak up those beers, we’d recommend adding a messy, greasy heap of grilled mushrooms and bacon. $6.95. 1958 W Roscoe St, 773-248-9523
