Eddie and Forde> We actually did hit those places, and many of them made the list. Our food editor, Heather Shouse, discusses them in a comment at the bottom of this page: http://www.timeout.com/chicago/article/24111/best-of-za-bunch
Having grown up on the South Side with a 11 year transplant to the NS and now back South, I find the article informative, but lacking. Where are the old southside haunts like Vito & Nicks, Fox's, Palermos, Roseanglos, the original Home Run Inn, etc. and the Northside landmarks like Pete's, Art of Pizza, D'Agostino's and Pats. It seems like the new has replaced the old which is dissappointing because your publication typically goes out of its way to find the many great "ole' time joints" that this city has on both the north and south side.
Regarding the best pizza. You guys have to be a joke. Let me guess... predominately, your staff are tranplanters. You only hit the near southwest side. Okay, I give you Vito & Nicks. Great ZA, but the southside has so may pizza joints that you never even saw. Stop looking to lakeview and Lincon Park. There are hidden secrets in Chicago and the burbs especially on the south side. Start looking!!!
