The long trip to the dinner table begins at Henry’s Farm in Congerville, Illinois, where farmhand Matt Erickson, in yellow jacket, top photo; Kazami Brockman, center; and Asa Brockman, left, pack a truck with cucumbers and summer squash. On the next page, Asa and Jesse Schenk box up cranberry beans, one of the 600 varieties of fruits and veggies the farm grows each year. Owned by Henry Brockman, the farm is 150 miles southwest of Chicago; the family schleps their produce to the Evanston Farmers’ Market every Saturday.
