New York, I Love You

Shia LaBeouf, Bradley Cooper, Robin Wright Penn, Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson, Drea de Matteo, Chris Cooper, Robin Wright Penn, Eli Wallach, Cloris Leachman, Ethan Hawke, Maggie Q.Didn’t Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola and Woody Allen make this movie 20 years ago? The idea of building an omnibus film around a major city is itself flawed, because it’s essentially like saying “do whatever.” Some of the directorial roster has searched for NYC-specific anecdotes, but the only surprise is that the movie saves its bickering Brighton Beach couple (Wallach and Leachman) for the end. Segments range from the beautiful-but-incoherent (Kapur) to the funny-but-stupid (Ratner).
