GREEN DAY Debbie Meyer seems like a nice enough lady, but man, she’s intense as she snaps a fresh carrot in half during her commercials for the Debbie Meyer GreenBags. According to the ad, that carrot has stayed crisp and fresh for days because it was stored in one of her reusable bags. That’s great, but couldn’t any old plastic bag do the trick? The product’s packaging explains why fruits and veggies last longer in the green bags: The bags absorb and remove gasses that are released from fruits and vegetables, extending the normal life of the food up to 10 times. Apparently, Debbie makes her bags with oya, a natural mineral (although when we Googled “oya,” the only results we found were related to the GreenBags) that facilitates the gas absorption. To see if they really work—and to test our thesis that Debbie’s green wonders are just glorified Glad baggies—we bought three bananas and placed one in Debbie’s bag, another in a plastic ziplock bag and left the third banana alone. After four days, all three bananas sported brown spots, but the one in the GreenBag clearly was the least blemished. We are…well, we’ll just admit it: We’re impressed, Debbie. 20 bags for $10 at greenbags.com.
YES, IT WORKS!
I love anything "Green"....
