Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Betcha didn’t know that Chicago boasts one of the country’s largest ’Nam memorials. On the riverbank at Wabash Avenue, you’ll find engraved names, a timeline, water sculpture and fountain bordered by serene landscaping. Canal Street Railroad Bridge
Constructed in 1915, this structural wonder rose and fell 75 times a day as boat traffic intersected any one of 300 trains crawling past.

This riverside oasis of pedestrian space (think: eating, lounging, taking a smoke break) sits in the Loop, quietly wedged between skyscrapers.
