30th Annual Chicago Jazz Festival
Aug 28-31 | Pritzker Pavilion and Grant Park
Ornette, whut?! Yes, the legendary saxophonist/trumpeter/violinist Ornette Coleman, the one and only free-jazz iconoclast and avant-garde legend, hasn’t even been on the Jazz Fest stage since the late ’80s. So consider us amped to hear him bellow out his joyful, ecstatic noise in Chicago. As if that wouldn’t satiate us, we get bop saxophonist Sonny Rollins, who keeps the sublime Chicago guitarist Bobby Broom in his band for good measure. Ed Wilkerson Jr., longtime member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM) and veteran avant-garde saxophonist, gets rewarded for his year-in-year-out innovation with a highly anticipated artist-in-residency.

Broken Social Scene is nothing like Cumbawumba. And Feist is nothing like Sheryl Crow. That's a terrible anology. What's it like being a shitty writer for a living. You guys suck.
