Jamie Lidell
Wed 4, 9pm | Abbey Pub
Lidell’s Jim marks another surprise development for the electronic artist-turned-unlikely soul singer: It swaps studio trickery with an organic emulation of Motown and Otis Redding. The Jamiroquai for hipsters is fast becoming the next Jamiroquai, but in concert the salesman, seducer and comedian in Lidell pours forth.

25th Annual Chicago Blues Festival
Jun 5–8 | Grant Park
Don’t let the enormous tourist crowd at Blues Fest fool you: The past few years have seen some stellar, snob-worthy bookings. This silver-anniversary version packs headliners like B.B. King and boogie-woogie legend Little Willie Littlefield. But, as usual, hidden gems abound: Geraldine and Donald Gay, the phenomenal local gospel duo; and legendary soul singers, including ex-Chicagoan Sugar Pie DeSanto, Willie Henderson, Ruby Andrews and Cicero Blake.
