The M’s
Power-pop quartet the M’s dubbed their poorly heated Andersonville practice space the Salvation Ice-Box. Fortunately, there’s no lack of fire on their buzzing, Beatles-y third album, Real Close Ones, due out Tue 3 on Polyvinyl Records. The buzz surrounding the band may be smokin’, but when it comes to shows singer-guitarist Robert Hicks would pay big dough to see, he leans toward the mellow. “Gilberto Gil. Or Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Or Willie Nelson! All at the Ravinia Festival. Damn, that looks good.”

The M’s celebrate their new album, Real Close Ones, at Schubas June 7, 8.
