Vocalist David Yow ruled the stage—by jumping off of it or pulling out his package—for the Jesus Lizard, a noise-rock band that formed in Chicago in 1987. Yow (left), 47, performed here last year with his pre-Lizard outfit, Scratch Acid, for the Touch and Go 25th-anniversary fest; on Friday 28, he returns with L.A.’s noise-rock trio Qui (pronounced “kwee”). We’re happy to report that Yow still gets naked on tour.
Did you dig the Touch and Go fest?
I’d never experienced anything like it, and I’ve been to a lot of festivals. The vibe was all love and respect. I cried when Killdozer played.
What’s one difference between the Jesus Lizard and Qui?
Well, Qui weighs less than the Jesus Lizard, which had four guys.
So the genre on your MySpace page: christian/comedy/regional mexican—that’s pretty accurate?
Oh yeah, that’s as accurate as you can get with the choices they give you…. So, what are you wearing?
Um, my black Jackass Converse.
Is that it?…Last night we got to Boise in the afternoon, went to the bar and got really drunk, and there was a lot of nudity going on here at the hotel and in the parking lot.
One thing to know about Qui?

Get lucky on Friday 28. See Music.
