Chaise Lounge (1840 W North Ave, 773-342-1840)
As a harbinger of yuppified Bucktown, Chaise attracts an appropriately posh crowd: Models (or at least wanna-be models) in Jackie O sunglasses nosh on grilled shrimp with Anson Mills grits, metrosexuals with their shirts half unbuttoned put back Chesterfield cocktails and those dogs in purses…well, they tend to just stare at you and yap. No question this isn’t the Bucktown we used to love, and we’re tempted to roll our eyes and keep walking. But even we can’t deny that the rooftop—with its private cabanas decked out in earth tones and the view of the bustling street below—is pretty damn enticing.
