This beach’s popularity may partly be due to this lakeside shack, with its summer-eats menu of coconut shrimp and niçoise salad. Le Colonial (937 N Rush St, 312-255-0088) The colonial furniture and tall, leafy plants at this sidewalk patio evoke Vietnam, but with all those rich people in gorgeous dresses and perfectly tailored suits passing by, you can’t help but instantly be transported back to the Gold Coast. —David Tamarkin

krem (1750 N Clark St, 312-932-1750) Thanks to the white-on-white cabanas and the clientele’s penchant for Champagne, the vibe at krem’s below-street-level patio is unmistakably Miami Beach. There’s just one snag: no ocean view. That leaves only one thing on which to focus your attention: the tanned, toned bodies all around you. —David Tamarkin
