WHO’S YOUR DADA? They’re not exactly churning out “readymades” of bicycle wheels and urinals, but the crew behind Bucktown’s Duchamp aims to evoke the namesake Dadaist artist all the same. A collaboration between Zealous chef Michael Taus and the guys behind Lumen (Jason Freiman, Peter Gogarty and Nick Podesta), Duchamp will, naturally, feature a mural of the French artist’s works, but it’s his vision the team is citing as the springboard of the operation. “Duchamp’s approach to art during a time of exclusive luxury was to make it accessible for more people,” Freiman says. “And we want to take pretty sophisticated food and bring it down to the basics, keeping the price point low so everyone can enjoy it.” So while the former Meritage space sports a refined, contemporary decor and a lush outdoor lounge complete with its own bar, dishes like duck rillette tartines, bouillabaisse and braised pork shoulder with wilted spinach (pictured) top out at $19. 2118 N Damen Ave at Charleston St (773-235-6434).
