Giuseppe Scurato has been cooking American food for years now, and yet in every kitchen he’s run—from Lincoln Park’s BOKA to Burr Ridge’s Topaz Cafe—people have begged him to start cooking Italian. The guy grew up in Italy, after all—would it kill him to make some pasta? At Ceres’ Table, he’s finally giving in. The menu there will be full of American fare like grilled short ribs, but it will also include housemade pastas and Italian dishes like octopus with puttanesca sauce. And that’s not the only departure the chef is making: For the first time since he landed in Chicago, his food will be offered at everyman prices, with nothing—neither Italian nor American—costing more than $22. The restaurant is slated to open the week of Mon 16. 4882 N Clark St, 773-878-4882.

Just had a fabulous dinner. Great food, well-priced (and actually really great food considering the reasonable price!), excellent service. I had the Octopus appetizer and Lamb Shank dinner - wonderful flavors! I encourage people to check this one out - a great find of a restaurant. thanks!

Well Giuseppe I know the day would come when you would get your own resturant. I know everyone at Ecole Hoteliere in Strasbourg will be coming into Chicago to your new resturant.
My husband and I dined at BOKA when he was the chef. Best food we ever ate! Giuseppe is the Best!
