Says Matthis: “I love my dog, my 3,000 LPs and making dance-rock music in my bedroom. My archetype woman is a riot grrrl who has forward political ideas and can play bass or drums; I want to make beautiful music with someone—literally. I have a lot of friends who are girls, and I like to go out to bars to toss one back with them—but I don’t do the bar scene.”

Says John Dugan, Nightlife editor: “I met Matthis because we worked at the same store, and I see him deejaying at Rodan. He’s a man about town. When I see him—often at weird parties—he’s always nice, chatty and pleasant. He gives good vibes—you always feel cheered up after talking to him.”
