    Rain parade

Inspired by Gustave Caillebotte’s renowned Paris Street, Rainy Day painting at the Art Institute, we recreated the scene in Chicago to showcase a few favorite brellies.

    1. Clear as day
Ever wish you could enjoy the beauty of the rain outside without getting wet? This 100 percent biodegradable Brelli, made with a transparent bioplastic canopy and a bamboo frame, lets you appreciate your environment and help save it, too. $28 for 35” diameter, $38 for 52” diameter at thebrelli.com.

    2. Gone batty
The aerodynamically designed SENZ Original Windproof Stick (this baby withstands up to 70mph winds) may remind you of something a vampire would hold during a rainstorm, but you’ll be smitten when your friend’s umbrella flips on its back while yours remains upright. $55 at totes-isotoner.com.

    3. Light this way
UmbrellaCo’s dark blue canopy looks “same old, same old” at first glance, but when a twist of the handle illuminates the top portion, this umbrella will light up your nightlife. $28 at Museum of Contemporary Art store (220 E Chicago Ave, 312-397-4000, mcachicagostore.org).

    4. Wired up
Forget the Weather Channel; armed with a wireless receiver, this Ambient Umbrella’s handle offers a heads up on the daily forecast, lighting up in varying degrees of brightness to indicate impending drizzle, downpour or snow. $80 at thinkgeek.com.

    5. On the blot
Carrying around this Tray6, scrawled with artist Bernard Maisner’s calligraphic rendering of Rorschach’s inkblots, you’ll likely pique the interest of passersby. Give ’em the classic psychological test to weed out the creepy crawlers. $84 at Museum of Contemporary Art store.

    6. Bathing beauty
While the sassy senorita perched atop this Laurent Mouveau for Pylones brellie gets drenched during a downpour, her umbrella-canopy-cum-dress will keep you perfectly dry. $33 at Art Effect (934 W Armitage Ave at Bissell St, 773-929-3600, arteffectchicago.com).
