Elysian Hotel
Early–mid September
If you didn’t take a staycation this summer, this fall will be the perfect time to live in the lap of luxury—at least for a weekend. The city’s newest high-end hotel is opening in the Gold Coast and features ten guest rooms and suites per floor, each averaging 890 square feet and including terraces, fireplaces and 460-thread-count Italian linens. If you can’t afford to stay the night (rates start around $395), you can always visit the hotel’s lux fourth-floor spa, which offers treatments such as facials, massages and a men’s atelier, where guys can get a haircut, shave and other spa services. 11 E Walton St (312-646-1300, elysianhotels.com).
DNA 2050
September 17
This denim shop left Lincoln Park earlier this summer, but it didn’t leave the city for good. It’s coming back, and this time on the Mag Mile—the 900 Shops, to be specific. Just like other DNA outposts, this one will stock tons of jeans, plus the opportunity to create “2050 Jeanetic profiles,” where in-house stylists will help you figure out which brand (such as G-Star Raw, Diesel and Levi’s) best suits you. You’ll also find men’s and women’s designer clothing such as Sport Max, J. Lindeberg, John Varvatos for Converse and William Rast. 900 N Michigan Ave.
Zara
November
We were pumped when this trendy Spanish retailer made its Chicagoland debut in Skokie last fall, and we’re even more excited now that it’s finally coming to Michigan Avenue. The shop is known for its quick response to fashion trends, and most of-the-moment merch is budget-friendly (T-shirts start around $10). Of course, now that city dwellers have easy access to Zara, you do run the risk of wearing the same little black dress or chambray denim shirt as all the other stylish Chicagoans. 700 N Michigan Ave.
