WITH A VENGEANCE What’s old is literally new again at this secondhand shop with a twist. International Academy of Design and Technology grads Sarah Vuong and Teresa Kimble repurpose clothing and fabrics into one-of-a-kind garments at their Lakeview space. Customers can bring in their own clothing, and with assistance from staffers, use the shop’s sewing and silk-screen machines to revamp their own clothing ($5 for 30 minutes). Not in the mood to play designer? Purchase items that have already been reengineered ($15–$50) or flip through one of the shop’s alteration look books and commission a piece by D.I.Y. Hards. The shop also offers handmade clothing and accessories from local designers. 852 W Belmont Ave, second floor (773-477-5787, myspace.com/diyhards).

Oh man this store is great and wonderful. The Owner is a fantastic seamstress. I have been talking with her this week and she is making me a a couple of items, they are beautiful and reasonably priced for me and and I am a broke art student. I am not spending too much money and I am getting beautiful custom fit clothes. This is way better than any other store EVER!!
