SISTERS DOIN’ IT FOR THEMSELVES Because of her job as a staging expert for HGTV’s Designed to Sell, Bethany Souza had a storage space full of vintage finds. She’s since taken a majority of those items and multiplied them by ten…people. Souza has teamed up with ten friends and colleagues to open a new gallery space within Vintage Pine, the Lincoln Park warehouse that hosts a variety of showrooms. The Salvage team scours flea markets, thrift stores, auctions and even raids their own homes to find vintage and nearly new pieces that fit with the space’s Parisian-flea-market vibe. The stock is constantly rotating, but it usually includes vintage mirrors, chairs, stained glass and picture frames (all under $100), repainted French armoires ($300–$5,000) and original oil paintings ($200–$400). The shop doesn’t channel a specific aesthetic or time period; instead it simply aims to feature really cool items. “We like to think of it as ten people’s taste, all in one space,” Souza says. 904 W Blackhawk St (312-943-9303, salvagesisters.org).
