SMOOTH OPERATOR When I saw the price tag on Living Proof’s Wave Shaping Curl Defining No Frizz Styling Cream —$24 for a wee four-ounce bottle—I was dubious. When I realized how much product you were supposed to use each time—half an ounce or more—I started to get a little pissed off. But the icing on the cranky cake? I tried the stuff, and it works really well. A shotglass-worth of this pleasantly (but mildly) dryer-sheet–smelling goo worked through my towel-dried hair and kept my curls under control without leaving them greasy or heavy. When I opted to air-dry on day two, the cream left my locks a tad crunchy at first, but running a few fingers through my miraculously knot-free mane quickly smoothed over the problem. I even started half-believing the company’s claims that it had invented a new molecule designed specifically to tame frizz.
