THAT’S A WRAP It’s officially fall, which means it’s only a matter of time before Old Man Winter comes knocking on our doors, bringing his frigid, skin-drying temps with him. To the rescue: Sir Spa’s new hydration wrap. Now, this treament is not for the modest. When I’m not wrapped up as if I’m in a cocoon, I’m on the table with only a small towel covering me. Skin-care specialist Michele makes me feel at ease, though, and even lightens the mood with small talk (she’s in the middle of watching Lost on DVD). She begins the service with an exfoliating scrub, then lathers a moisture-rich balm (containing a coconut-scented shea-butter mix) over my entire body. The balm melts on my skin immediately, so it’s a good thing Michele tightly wraps me in plastic and three layers of warm blankets, or else I’d probably slide right off the table. While I’m literally snug as a bug in a rug, Michele quietly massages my face (I never knew how amazing eyebrow massages are) and scalp. I rinse off in the rain shower in the treatment room and enjoy a final application of hydrating lotion. When I leave the spa, my skin feels supersoft, and I’m ready to tackle the changing season. $75 for 45 minutes; 5151 N Clark St (773-271-7000, sirspa.com).
