SMOOTH OPERATOR Fortunately, I rarely, if ever, have to prepare my face for high-def standards. But when I saw that Temptu, the company that produced full-body art for X-Men and runway looks for Trovata (among others), has released an at-home AIRbrush Makeup System, I had to try it. How it works: Pods of foundation, highlighter and blush (12 foundation shades and four blush and highlighter options) individually load into a wand that blows a mist of makeup when turned on. To my cube mate’s surprise, the machine made a murmured whirring sound—more electric toothbrush than lawn mower—just loud enough to prevent me from simultaneously chatting on the phone while I primped and preened. In barely two minutes, my face appeared smooth and flawless. The only downside? It smelled like waxy lipstick mixed with baby powder. Luckily, the scent faded within five minutes along with the slightly damp residue left over from the makeup application. Six hours later, my face still looked pretty damn good. So maybe I can’t quite justify spending $225 on a makeup kit, but if I could, I’d opt for this one in a heartbeat for those nights when I’d rather not “retouch” every few hours. $225 for the makeup system, $55 for two foundation pods; $35 for highlighter; $30 for blush at Sephora (520 N Michigan Ave, 312-494-9598, sephora.com).
IT WORKS!
