Chuck | Eli Stone | Pushing Daisies
After this story went to press, ABC broke Margaret's heart into a billion weeping pieces canceled both Eli Stone and Pushing Daisies. Sleep with one eye open, Zach Braff--the death of whimsy is nigh. Read more about the cancellation of both shows on the TOC blog.
ELI STONE
THE DUDE
Schmancy lawyer Eli (Jonny Lee Miller), who developed a brain aneurysm that caused hallucinations. Or as he came to conclude, he’s a prophet, and those hallucinations—which come in the form of musical numbers—are visions, sent to him from a higher power.
ADD ONE PART FANTASY TO…
...two parts lawyer show. Eli’s cases could come from Boston Legal.
THE BLOND
Eli’s coworker and ex-fiancée Taylor (Natasha Henstridge). Her dad runs Eli’s firm, and her new boyfriend works there, too. Lawyer shows! The sexual chemistry may be gone, but Eli and Taylor are still pretty tight.
THE BRUNETTE
Maggie (Julie Gonzalo), Eli’s young associate who has a big old crush on him. Eli’s had visions of himself married to Maggie (with a lawyer baby), and they’ve kissed, twice. But between her newly dumped fiancée and Eli’s unpredictable lifespan thanks to the aneurysm, they’re keeping their distance.
THE NOTABLE GUEST STARS
George Michael, Katie Holmes, Seal, Sigourney Weaver
BUT ALL THE BEST LINES GO TO…
Dr. Chen (James Saito), the religion scholar–acupuncturist who convinced Eli that his visions were signs, not medical emergencies
CHANCES OF SURVIVAL
Eli still hasn’t been picked up for a full 22-episode season, but ABC ordered four more scripts last month. 75-25 we see a complete season.
