Description
Two men sit at a bar discussing the vicissitudes of success and the slippery notion of what makes art good. The scene’s clever dialogue forms the heart of former rocker Laura Eason’s new work about the almost-rise of a late-’90s rock band. The reverse-order tale depicts the thrills and travails of incipient fame and the corporate screwjob that leads to the frontman’s suicide. Director Anna C. Bahow’s production evokes the last decade with gentle affection, imbuing its clichés with warmth and wit.—Melissa Albert
