Description
The fourth annual Umbrella Music Festival technically begins tomorrow with the Chicago Cultural Center's “European Jazz Meets Chicago” showcase. But tonight's prequel offers an intimate environment to see these internationally informed improvisations take flight. The first set features a trio of Swedish guitarist David Stackenäs, Dutch bassist Wilbert de Joode and Austrian percussionist Martin Brandlmayr. Set two brings a quartet of Germany's Frank Gratkowski (reeds) and Achim Kaufmann (Fender Rhodes), along with Lithuanian reedist Liudas Mockunas and Dutch drummer Wim Janssen.When
