“Ancient Americas.”
Description
This 18,000-square-foot permanent exhibit traces the origins of human life in the Americas through 2,200 artifacts belonging to more than 20 distinct native groups, from the Hopewell of the Midwest to the Inca of South America. Rather than pinning the cultures as exotic, the Field tries something progressive with this show: Innovations such as animal domestication, farming and government provide the peg for each section. These welcome forays into political correctness make for an unusual and thoughtful display.
