Description
Gwendolyn Whiteside gets a workout in Laura Schellhardt's solo play about a rural girl who manifests an eerie power after her twin brother's death. Whiteside portrays 14 characters in director Meredith McDonough's economical Chicago premiere, and it's hard not to be impressed by how clearly the actor distinguishes each role. But Schellhardt's portrait of a momentous summer never quite reaches believability; despite Whiteside's aerobics, these small-town denizens remain stock types.—KVWhen
