The epitome of American music in its purest, pre–British Invasion form, the Blasters draw from all the proto–rock & roll greats, from rockabilly to Big Joe Turner—the building blocks of just about any song with a swinging backbeat. The group originally put enough sweat, passion and energy into its music to convince the punks it was one of them, but the L.A. outfit always danced to its own tune. For this run, it is joined by blues-harp badass and Chicago native Billy Boy Arnold.
