Young Frankenstein
Description
The 2007 musical adaptation is faithful to Mel Brooks's 1974 monster-movie spoof, but it's copiously padded with tit jokes and arduously drawn out with big production numbers. Re-creating their New York roles, Roger Bart as Frankenstein and Shuler Hensley as the monster tap dance to “Puttin' on the Ritz.” And then the monster has a shadow partner. And then the whole company tap dances in big monster shoes. And then: strobe lights! The show is almost never markedly bad, but it often hums along on autopilot.—John Beer
