Jason Heidemann
GAY & LESBIAN / COMEDY EDITOR
COVERS: Gay and lesbian events and meetings, including clubs, bars, theater, festivals and other cultural highlights. Also covers the comedy scene including improv, sketch and stand-up comedy.
As a card-carrying member of the gay community since 1993, Chicagoland native Heidemann proudly advocates for LGBT equality both at home elsewhere. But as the child of a dysfunctional family who bonded through comedy, he has also been active in Chicago's vibrant improv and sketch scene since 1991. The University of Iowa graduate has co-written seven guidebooks, appeared regularly as a film and nightlife correspondent on the CBS TV show "Evening Magazine" in San Francisco and has written dozens of travel essays and hundreds of restaurant reviews. He's also a regular contributer to many sections in Time Out Chicago.
Ask me about: Gay Chicago milestones, LGBT nightlife beyond Boystown and indie queer bands. Also ask me about Second City's groundbreaking "Pinata Full of Bees," local stand-ups, taking classes at iO and the day Chicago-style pizza died.
