This minichain (there are three scattered throughout the South Side) operates on the theory that there are three major food groups: ice cream, doughnuts and everything else. That means the savory food may be perfectly solid—tuna melts are stuffed so full they could feed three; burgers are charred on the outside and juicy within—but the real focus is what comes next. For most people, that means a doughnut topped with housemade ice cream. But for our money, a hot apple fritter does the job better.
