Perhaps best known for its wine list, this quiet restaurant on the first floor of the Margarita European Inn may still be Evanston's best-kept secret. Because in addition to the extensive, all-Italian wine list, there's also a list of well-executed, appetite-inducing apertivos. And there's even food to go with it—dishes like stalks of spring asparagus paired with a nutty Parmesan and lively tomato fonduta; housemade ravioli stuffed with a sweet-and-savory combination of caramelized onions, pancetta and spring peas; and perfectly juicy slices of lamb lined with dark, flavorful char marks from the grill.
