Description
Looking for great Cuban food? Wind through the grocery aisles of this "food mart" to the rear corner and you'll find a dozen tables, a friendly counterman and a wall lined with brightly colored signs touting house specialties. (Grab an English menu from the counter if your Spanish is weak.) You can find Colombian and Mexican fare, but it's the Cuban eats that have drawn regulars here for 30 years. Bring friends and share the standouts to try a bit of everything: the Cuban sandwich (the best in town), pork-filled tamale, crunchy bacalao (salt cod), the roasted pork dinner with yellow rice, an order each of garlicky green and caramelized sweet plantains, and a round of the perfectly rich and slightly sweet cafe con leche.
