Description
This small, simple and slightly upscale BYOB is proving that creative and contemporary food isn't happening on just the North Side. Opening chef Thomas Eckert has moved on, but Rob Kurecki looks to fill the void with recent nods to fall that include poached pear salad with cranberry-bacon vinaigrette, brined pork chop with apple-cider sauce and sweet-potato polenta, and grilled walleye with roasted artichokes and spaghetti squash. Clean your plate and you've earned the seasonal sundae of spiced caramel-apple gelato topped with pumpkin and sautéed apples.
Hours
Lunch (Wed–Sat), dinner (Wed–Sun).
in deference to the prior review the fact that you can cork an entire party for $3 is quite reasonable...maybe they would feel better if charged $48 for a $18 bottle of wine. this is not a trough and brew. the food is excellent and the atmoshere relaxed upscale. as one of those who used to trade all day and drive downtown for a nice meal this is quite wondeful...the menu is adventerous as well as enticing...sorry donna...the pizza joints are on western avenue
My friend & I have been to the restaurant 3 times now. The 2 times we came to lunch everything was fine. Last Friday evening we had reservations for 6. How embarassing it was one of the ladies ordered lobster entree and paid over $30.00 for it and it came to the table no larger than an appetizer portion. I noticed that the couple sitting directly behind us ordered the same thing and were also quite astonished when the lobster arrived. The portions were way to small for the price! I also feel it would be nice to have a basket of nice breads to go along with the dinner! Your food is very tasty but the portions for the high dinner prices are way out of line and I feel that if things don't change soon that you will not be open for business long! and $3.00 corkage fee per bottle when we spent over $300.00 for our dinner? also the waiter didn't even bother to return the imported beer that was brought in and only 2 bottles were poured! Food is good but things must change especially for dinner if you want people to continue to habit the restaurant!
We had a beautifully put-together meal last Saturday. The autumn squash soup was a symphony of delicate flavors. The rabbit rillette was also divine. I would highly recommend this restaurant to others. Call in advance because they are booked up a lot and for great reasons.
