Description
This bright and cheery all-day eatery is a much-needed addition to West Humboldt Park. Chef-owner Charles Armstead starts offering breakfast at the crack of dawn, tempting Grand Avenue commuters with his homey sausage casserole, Lavazza coffee and chill background music help ease you into the day. Lunch and dinner are a who's who of comfort food. Meat loaf is better than Mom's, but hold the American cheese. For the star of the show, get the blackened salmon, well-spiced, perfectly seared and plated with delicious garlic mashed potatoes. Follow up with the fantastic banana bread pudding with peanut butter anglaise.

I first went to CJ's about 2 weeks ago, and have returned several times since. The food is outstanding. The service is excellent. Try the grits with shrimp and bacon...you will not be disappointed.
