The dining room of the short-lived Shochu is pretty much unchanged, but the owners have shifted the format from a Japanese-style izakaya highlighting the namesake distilled liquor to an American platform that matches that of their original restaurant, Deleece. Steak is the major focus (take heed: What is medium-rare here is probably just "rare," or even raw, to you), and the rest of the meat-and-potatoes menu includes a nuanced porcini-garlic soup and gluttonous beer-battered cheese curds. It might no longer be a forward-thinking restaurant, but if it can survive where Shochu couldn't, then it's probably what the neighborhood wants.
