Café Furaibo
Description
Every sushi joint has a niche—slick digs and bass-heavy beats, pristine fish and a serene, whisper-required setting. This family-run eatery excels at maki and small plates of traditional Japanese cooked dishes. Of the latter, vegetarians are well fed with a teriyaki-sauced grilled tofu steak and steamed spinach in bonito soy sauce, while the best of the rest includes broiled salmon collar (request lemon for added brightness), panko-encrusted shrimp with katsu sauce and pan-fried pork dumplings. Supplement with an order of Caribbean Secret maki; the textural contrast and flavor combo of yellowtail, gourd, masago, mayo, asparagus and tempura crumbs will make you a regular at this little gem.
