The so-so Mexican spot Brioso has morphed into this welcome Tex-Mex/Southwestern restaurant with a spiffed-up paint job and a menu with more hits than its predecessor. There are frothy, fruity margaritas plus the house drink—vodka mixed with key lime and prickly pear juice—to get you feelin' fine. Move on to creative takes on standby starters like chile-crusted calamari and nachos with slow-roasted pork and chipotle salsa. For entrées, try the thick blue cheese–crusted rib eye, grilled shrimp with creamy polenta or chipotle-rubbed baby back ribs. Banana cream pie sticks out among the desserts, but not as much as the rough-around-the-edges service.
