The new location of this Salvadorian eatery is enormous compared to its previous Western Avenue location. Other than that, though, things remain pretty much the same: The room is still no-frills, and the food is still an exceptional value. Pupusas—pancakelike patties made from masa and stuffed with a variety of meats, vegetables and cheeses—is the focus of the menu, and we like the simple frijol version the best (the pupusa loca, massive enough to serve three and stuffed with pork, cheese and almost every other ingredient on hand, is a close second). But to our surprise we liked other menu items even better: Soft, sweet corn tamales drizzled with crema, crispy Guatemalan tostadas with beans and salsa and a particularly sweet glass of horchata, a drink that doubles as dessert.
