More than 20 years ago, Chinese immigrant Nai Tiao opened Great Seas on the Korean stretch of Lawrence Avenue and unveiled a now legendary lollipop-style soy-and-chile–glazed chicken wing. Now his daughter, Karen Lim, has taken the wings to Pilsen. The decor screams franchise, but the food is the real deal. Freshly fried egg rolls are stuffed with peppery vinegar-laced cabbage and pork; soy-splashed fried rice is topped with fluffy butterflied caramelized shrimp; and the sweet-and-spicy wings, a.k.a. Little Hotties, are as good as old man Tiao's.
