Description
Sitting on one of the tree-stump counter stools at this sleek, designer coffeehouse doesn't really make for an outdoorsy experience—the room is too influenced by midcentury-modern design to conjure the outdoors. But it is a lovely experience nonetheless, thanks to oversized mugs filled with lavender-scented chai lattes, hot sandwiches and baked goods. A newly added brunch menu includes Milk & Honey granola and other favorites like mascarpone-stuffed brioche French toast, and a new bar area means Little Branch is no longer just a daytime pitstop.

The Little Branch Cafe is my new favorite spot. The ambience is calm and restful and the staff is refreshingly accommodating. Every cup of coffee is made from freshly ground beans. Delicious! Haven't tried the sandwiches yet, but the gelatos and pastries are to die for.
This is an excellent place to go for espresso drinks. The staff is always friendly and takes pride in their coffee (they use Metropolis), and every time I've had a panini sandwich it has been excellent. The sandwiches and smoothies do take time since nothing is pre-prepared, but it makes it worth it to have fresh cut fruit in the smoothies and fresh sliced tomatoes on the paninis. I've taken several friends there and we've always enjoyed ourselves.
I have gone there on 4 different occasions. Twice for a sandwich, and twice for just a smoothie. The food and smoothies are superb...but the service each time was so incredibly slow. There were not other customers, so they were not busy. It just seemed rude that they took so long to get a smoothie. I have never waited less than 10 minutes for anything. That's a long time to wait for a drink when no one else is in the cafe. I have waited up to 30 minutes for a sandwich.
Since discovering the Little Branch Cafe several month ago my husband and I try to get there at least once a week. We live in Evanston and take the el and a bus to get there but we feel it's well worth our effort. They have wonderful pastries, delicious coffee and the staff is always friendly. It's just a nice litle place in the heart of the city to sit, relax and enjoy.
This is a gem of a cafe. Great coffee, drinks, gelato and baked goods. If you live in or out of the area, it's worth the visit. But beware, you'll be spoiled by Little Branch's delicious products.
