Anyone who fears Ukrainian Village is losing its ethnicity can take solace in this café. Well-heeled women chat over coffee and cake, a handful of sugar-rushing kids scrape the bottom of their fruit parfaits, and neighborhood elders, including men of the cloth, tuck into particularly good bowls of borscht, all to the tune of Ukrainian chatter. The younger of the mother-daughter team behind the classy, casual spot is right to recommend her mom's baked goods (the airy, sour cream–layered napoleon cake goes fast for a reason), but the savory crêpes, buttery panini and delicious soups are worth a visit on their own.
