Sun Wah Bar-B-Q Restaurant
Prices
Average main course: $6.
Description
This no-frills joint tempts passersby with lacquer-skinned roast ducks hanging by their necks in the steamed-up window. The Pei Par BBQ duck and the Hong-Kong-style barbecued pig are sublime in their simplicity, savory and slick with fat. Chinese broccoli arrives jade-green and crisp, and the beef chow fun (from the pan-fried noodles section of the menu) comes out charred and tasting of the properly smoking wok. Even the egg rolls are notable, dotted with bits of roasted pork. The menu is expansive but inexpensive, and the bare-bones dining room is a tad uninviting, so order lots and eat the leftovers at home.
Hours
Lunch, dinner (closed Thu).
The description needs to be updated- Sun Wah recently moved to a new location, and it's MUCH nicer and cleaner than their previous building. Although the ambiance has improved 100%, the service is admittedly a little bit sketchy- I think they're growing into their new space. I’ve always enjoyed my meals at Sun Wah. Great prices for fantastic, authentic food.
we used to go there to eat once on a blu moon. but it's not very clean or lit up. we always go there for take-out roast duck. that's all we really get from there. but there are cheapper prices in chinatown, but they're not really up to par.
