If you tried to explain to the posthipsters at this Division Street staple that the menu is more carefully thought out than it is at most bars around town, you'd be greeted with little more than a puff of cigarette smoke in your face. Luckily, the kitchen musters more enthusiasm about their hearty, tasty, no-frills comfort food. Market-priced salmon is on the menu here, but that's not the point; the point is a round of beers and a platter of cheesy, jalapeño-spiked nachos; an impressive slice of onion-studded meatloaf; salty, hand-cut fries; and a fat slab of ribs painted with a dark, full-flavored sauce.
