Description
For the past three years, Shawn McClain's moss-colored, Asian-tinged house of Zen has been the only upscale dinner experience Chicago vegetarians can truly call their own. And with the recent addition of brunch, vegetarians now have another Sunday-morning go-to. Chef de cuisine Molly Kipp's superseasonal dinner menu was recently updated to include items such as agnolotti with stinging nettles, snap peas, baby squash and mascarpone; chilled arugula soup; and roasted halibut with fingerlings, fennel and asparagus.
Hours
Brunch (Sun), dinner.
I must say, this is some of the tastiest and "couture" vegetarian cuisine I've ever had, but after shelling out nearly $120 (four courses each, plus 3 cocktails total), I was disappointed to say the least when we both left hungry (and I'm a standard vegetarian with not the largest appetite ever). Cocktails are delicious, but I agree -- eat before you go, or go there for what it is: tastings, but not a meal.
Eat BEFORE you go. Tiny portions mean that even if you have the 4 courses they recommend you will still be hungry(+ much poorer) when you leave the restaurant.
